NOTICE AND OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMENT

Proposed Rules for Parenting Coordinators

Comments due on or before
Friday, January 25, 2013 at 4:00 p.m.

The Supreme Judicial Court is considering proposed Rules for Parenting Coordinators.  The Rules were drafted and proposed by the Maine Guardian Ad Litem Institute.  At the Court’s request, the Family Law Advisory Commission, 19-A M.R.S. §§ 351-356 (2012), reviewed the rules and has issued a report in which it recommends against the adoption of the rules.  The proposed rules and the Commission’s recommendation are available at the links above and are available for inspection and copying at the Clerk’s office during normal business hours.

After a preliminary assessment, the Court is inclined to accept the Commission’s recommendation.  Before making a final decision, however, the Court invites comments on the proposed Rules.  Any comments must be filed with the Clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court on or before Friday, January 25, 2013, at 4:00 p.m.  Comments in writing must be mailed to the address below.  Comments sent via email may be in the text of the email or in an attachment in portable document format (.pdf), addressed to lawcourt.clerk@courts.maine.gov.  The Clerk’s Office will acknowledge receipt of the e-mail via a reply e-mail.

All comments must contain (1) the name, mailing address, and telephone number of the individual submitting the comments; and (2) the name, mailing address, and primary telephone number of the organization (if any) on whose behalf the comments are submitted. An individual need not be an attorney to submit comments on behalf of an organization.
