NOTICE AND OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMENT

Proposed Amendments to Maine Rules of Civil Procedure

Comments due on or before
Friday, January 4, 2013, at 4:00 p.m.

The Supreme Judicial Court is considering an amendment to the Maine Rules of Civill Procedure that would (1) enact Rule 23(f), which would provide for disposition of funds remaining in class action settlements after all claimants have been paid, and (2) correct a typographical error in Rule 64(c). The proposed amendment is available on the Judicial Branch website and is available for inspection and copying at the Clerk's office during normal business hours.

The Court invites comments on the proposed amendments. Any comments should be filed with the Clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court by Friday, January 4, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. Comments in writing should be mailed to the address below. Comments sent via email may be in the text of an email or in an attachment to an email, addressed to lawcourt.clerk@courts.maine.gov. If the comments are in an attachment, the attachment must be a document in portable document format (.pdf). The Clerk's Office will acknowledge receipt of the e-mail via a reply e-mail.

All comments must contain (1) the name, mailing address, and telephone number of the individual submitting the comments; and (2) the name, mailing address, and primary telephone number of the organization (if any) on whose behalf the comments are submitted. An individual need not be an attorney to submit comments on behalf of an organization.
