Part II: Administrative Office of the Courts

The Administrative Office of the Courts administers all of Maine's courts except for the Probate Courts, which are administered at the county level. The head of the office, the State Court Administrator, manages the business affairs of the courts. The Court Administrator reports to the Chief Justice and is responsible for collecting statistical information, investigating complaints, overseeing financial affairs, maintaining the physical facilities of the court, computer operations, running educational and training programs for court personnel, preparing an annual report on the operation of the Judicial Branch, and a broad range of other duties.
